Luke and Hannah were born and raised on separate sides of the continent. "Luke is from St. John's, Newfoundland and I'm from Wickenburg, Arizona," Hannah shares. Because Hannah's maternal grandfather was from Newfoundland, Hannah and her family spent every summer there as far back as she could remember. Hannah met Luke in Newfoundland when she was 18. "He was always hanging around the same group of people I was, but our paths never crossed until it was the right time," Hannah recalls. "When it was, we knew our relationship was going to be something special."
For their wedding, the couple chose a romantic vibe with an eclectic boho touch. "I wanted to portray my own personal style of soft, classy elegance," Hannah says. "Airy, and ethereal, but with a unique twist." Wanting to pay homage to Hannah's home state of Arizona, the couple tied elements of the Arizona desert into their decor. Slivers of geode crystals in amethyst, citrine and blue celestine were incorporated, as well as succulents and air plants in deep greens and purples for pops of colour. Their wedding cake by Cake Opera Co. tied the theme together. "It was truly a work of art, and I still can't believe it was edible, and delicious!"
Among Hannah's favourite details was her Marchesa wedding gown. "The inside of the dress was made of a material that was as soft as butter and felt like heaven against my skin," Hannah explains. "The beadwork was unique and intricate. That dress made me feel beautiful!"
Following dinner, when darkness had fallen, guests were ushered outside of the reception tent for a surprise. "Our DJ began to quietly play the song 'Fireworks' by the Tragically Hip, and suddenly, from beyond the vineyard, came a magical five-minute display of exquisite, glittering fireworks," Hannah recalls with a smile. "In that moment, I really felt the presence of my late grandfather. I knew he was looking down on us and enjoying the show, and everyone loved it!"
