Amanda and Ryan's romance began in the summer of 2010—and the season is what inspired their wedding. "Despite our wedding date being in July, we wanted to have a 'Forever Summer'-themed wedding to commemorate the memorable summer we met and our engagement," Amanda shares. "The colours were a palette of pink tones, including blush and copper, with white details and greenery; we wanted our celebration to feel romantic, organic, natural and personalized."
The couple shared their first look at the historic Sunnyside Pavillion on Toronto's waterfront. "I walked up the steps of the venue and met Ryan under the arch—I was holding back happy tears as I tapped him on the shoulder," Amanda recalls. "He turned around and we gave each other a big hug and kiss. He looked so handsome! Once I saw him, I knew the day would be perfect just because we were finally together."
After a memorable ceremony which included Ryan, a competitive baseball player, vowing to "put Amanda above baseball," as well as having their grandmothers sign the marriage license as witnesses, the day continued on to the reception. A photobooth by the couple's photographers at 5ive15ifteen, which included a live photographer and editor, was one of the special details awaiting guests. "It was nothing our guests had ever seen," Amanda shares. "The photobooth was the perfect casual way for guests to interact with each other, get photos with family and friends, be a little silly and let loose!"
The evening was made even better by culinary delights served by the Food Dudes. "It was one of the best meals we've ever had," Amanda affirms. "Our menu included steak, sea bass, farm-to-table vegetables and the best chopped salad we've ever had—guests asked for the recipe! Ice cream sandwiches made from salted butter cookies and liquid nitrogen popcorn ice cream were served for dessert, perfect for us since we love ice cream. For late night snacks, we had homemade mac and cheese and the Food Dudes' famous double-down sandwich!"
