A Black And Gold Multicultural Same-Sex Wedding in Toronto

  |  By Kimberly Aglipay

For Linh and Nadira, a wedding that showcased their personalities was extremely important. "We went a little risqué by choosing black and gold," Nadira shares. "Linh and I are not afraid to venture out and try things that are over the top!"

Getting married was a big moment for the couple, who had been together for 15 years prior to tying the knot. "Walking down the aisle was very special because the whole entire event became so real and emotions were running wild!" Nadira recalls. "We bought a house and had a child, but it took us 15 years to get married—we like to do things our own way!"

The couple chose to have a sand ritual during their ceremony that included their daughter, Asha. "We wanted to incorporate her into our ceremony and it was absolutely beautiful," Nadira affirms.

A great planning and design team and photographers made the couple's experience a flawless one. "Linh and I are very particular with details and how we like things, and Brittany and her team blew us away with the planning and creating the perfect design concept," Nadira says. "We also loved our photographers, Jenn and Kevin, and their ability to capture emotions and every moment on our wedding day!"

An especially important guest was Nadira's mother, who recently passed away. "Throughout my entire life, my mother was inspirational and always taught me to do the right thing but more importantly, she taught me to believe in myself and do what was best for me and not to worry about what other people thought—she was my hero," Nadira says. "Unfortunately, being gay still comes with many challenges that many people cannot relate to and in this day and age, discrimination is still so real but despite all of this, she gave me the strength and courage to persevere."
