An Understated, Elegant Wedding In Ajax, Ontario

Lindsay used to always joke with Jay that he had to buy her an engagement ring before he bought himself a boat. She thought he had broken this rule when she came home one day to find a boat in their driveway. But Jay had borrowed it from a friend to trick Lindsay. “He proceeded to tell me about how the boat was such a great deal and they even threw in a life jacket for our daughter,” Lindsay laughs. "After some convincing, he finally got me on the boat to check it out. He opened up the front storage area to show me the life jacket that was an apparent selling feature, and instead I found a rose, my engagement ring, and a note asking 'Will you marry me?'"

For their special day, the couple opted for simple decor as to not overshadow the natural beauty of their venue. “Neither of us are very flashy people, so we wanted to keep our day the same,” the couple explains. “Our venue already had such gorgeous details, such as the huge windows overlooking a pond, and the chandeliers.  We didn't need a whole lot more to make the space feel elegant.”

To add a touch of colour, subtle hints of pink were incorporated through the wedding cake, the bouquets and the cherry blossom centrepieces that sat on every table.  “The centrepieces were tall, elegant, and not overwhelming,” Lindsay describes. “They added the perfect amount of colour to the room.”

When asked about their favourite part of the wedding day, the couple explains it was right after they became officially married. “Once we exchanged our vows and our first kiss, all of the nerves had passed,” the bride and groom recall. “Our daughter ran up to greet us with a kiss and we got to walk down the aisle as a family!”
