A classic, traditional wedding look with a modern twist served as inspiration for Alyssa and Jeffrey’s spring celebration. “We used 1920’s-inspired elements of copper and gold in our decor, with navy blue accents throughout,” Alyssa explains. “Florals were kept classic with the use of light pinks, lush greens and soft creams to bring the early spring season to life.”
One of the modern twists the couple incorporated into their wedding was their reception floor plan. “I wanted to maximize the space in our venue and create a unique floor plan, so my planner, Jessica of Petite Pearl Events, worked with me to create my dream vision of having an X-pattern floor plan with one dramatic centrepiece in the middle of the X,” Alyssa recalls. The layout served as a wow-factor for the beautiful, intimate space.
A favourite detail was Alyssa’s custom bridal gown by local Vancouver designer Joanna Delaney. The ethereal, delicate gown included French lace detailing, and an open back and flowing chiffon skirt, exactly as Alyssa envisioned.
The couple’s first dance was a magical moment, swaying to the song “ILYSB” by LANY on the balcony of their venue, The Permanent. “Our friends and family surrounded us as the twilight streamed down from the vaulted stained glass ceiling,” Alyssa says. “It was magical.”
