A Simple, Modern Wedding In Downtown Toronto
Grant proposed to Krista on a trip to Italy. "He surprised me at my favourite beach bar restaurant on the Amalfi Coast, just beside the Italian village of Positano," Krista says. "It was completely unexpected and incredibly sweet."
The couple was the first to get married on the rooftop of The Broadview Hotel in Toronto. "We originally planned the wedding for the Toronto islands, but they were flooded," Krista explains. "We changed the wedding venue to The Broadview just 10 weeks before the wedding day—we signed on while it was still a construction site! We couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out."
The couple allowed the venue to dictate the decor. Because The Broadview is an urban-chic historical hotel with modern inspiration from local culture, they chose minimal decor to let the venue speak for itself.
Following the ceremony, the cocktail party took place on the terrace of the hotel and afterward guests headed inside for a fabulous dinner. "We didn’t have traditional elements such as a wedding cake or a first dance song," Krista says. "We wanted everyone to have good food and drinks and enjoy an evening of just being together."
