A Rustic Woodland Wedding in Wolfville, Nova Scotia - Bride and Groom

Mark originally wanted to propose to Sarah at Point Pleasant Park where the couple often walk their dog. However, his plan was spoiled when it rained. Not wanting to wait another day, Mark decided to propose while he and Sarah decorated their Christmas tree. "He was pretending to do a terrible job at putting the ornaments on the tree so that I would do it and he would pass them to me," Sarah remembers. "After decorating for a few minutes, he asked, 'Is there room for this one?' I turned around and he was on one knee with the ring!"

For their wedding, Mark and Sarah chose a rustic woodland theme reminiscent of their respective childhoods in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The couple selected a mint green, peach, blush, and ivory colour palette. To tie in the woodland motif, Mark and Sarah included plenty of flowers at the wedding, as well as wooden accents constructed by Sarah's father.

"So much effort and love was put unto the decor, which made it that much more special," Sarah says. Sarah and her father crafted almost everything by hand, including the ceremony backdrop, made from her grandparent's old barn doors, and the bunting, made using pieces of her mother's wedding dress. "My Aunt Anne and my mother made the cupcakes, and my dad even made the cake stand they were served on," Sarah says.

One of Sarah's favourite moments was her first dance with Mark to the song "Yellow" by Coldplay. "I had always dreamed of dancing to this song on my wedding day, and Mark agreed it was the perfect song for us," Sarah says. "We also had a blast dancing with our guests afterward!"
