A Rustic Fall Wedding in Manitoba - Bride and Groom

Kristina and Amir first met when they were both in medical school at the University of Manitoba. "Amir was from Vancouver and I was from Winnipeg. After a year playing cat and mouse we finally started dating at the end of our first summer holidays," Kristina explains.

When it came time for their wedding, the couple used the prairies and the natural beauty of Manitoba as inspiration for their rustic theme. We both love the outdoors and felt this would be the perfect environment in which to get married. "We didn’t have a strict colour scheme for the wedding but I would say fall colours and prairie flowers provided the most inspiration for our palette," Kristina says.

Aside from the outdoorsy feel of the day, one of Kristina's favourite wedding details was the locket she wore with her bridal gown as it held strong sentimental value for her. "I chose an old locket my mom and dad had bought me many years ago in Mexico. My dad passed away just over five years before our wedding, and never got to meet Amir. I wanted dad there with me, so I put my favourite picture of him in the locket and wore it the whole day," she says.

Another highlight for the couple was sitting by the campfire at their backyard BBQ party with their loved ones. "We were surrounded by 50 of our closest friends who were so happy for us, and everyone was having a great time," says Kristina. "We spent the evening eating BBQ ribs and popcorn, drinking wine and beer, and sitting by the fire. It was an unforgettable night!"
