Kaylen proposed to Ashley on the top of Ha Ling peak near Canmore, Alberta. "Originally we were supposed to hike a less grueling trail, but that trail was closed because of a bear sighting. Of course that didn't stop Kaylen! It was a great day, to say the least," Ashley says.
To reflect their outdoorsy personalities, Ashley and Kaylen drew inspiration for their wedding theme from the beauty of nature. "We wanted to create a rustic, elegant feel, and Azuridge Estate Hotel really helped us do that. Not only was it breathtaking there, but the staff made us feel so comfortable and at home. They went above and beyond to make our day special," Ashley says.
While the whole day was incredible, the bride says that the first look was the moment she remembers most vividly. "Having that one-on-one time with Kaylen before the wedding was so romantic. I wouldn’t trade that memory for anything!"
Ashley's advice for planning a wedding? Don't sweat the small stuff! "The day is not about the flowers, the food, the centrepieces, the cakes or all those other things; it’s about taking that next step with the one you love, the journey you are about to embark on together," she says. "Be thankful for that, because not everyone gets to spend the rest of their life with their best friend."
