It was excellent timing that brought Scott and Rachel together. The pair first met through mutual friends while Scott was living in Edmonton. "Rachel was in the process of moving to Edmonton herself for work," Scott recalls. "I showed her around town a little bit and we even played on the same ball team until I moved back to Calgary in the summer of 2011." It wasn't until over a year later that the pair bumped into each other after they were both settled in Calgary. "We talked for hours about our life goals, ambitions and experiences travelling; I couldn't believe how much I had in common with this beautiful girl," Scott says. "I knew I needed to get to know her better, so I worked up the courage to ask her on a date and the rest is history."
For their wedding, Scott and Rachel knew they wanted to look back on their wedding years from now and have no regrets about the decor. "The theme was airy and classic romantic elegance," Rachel explains. The flowers were the star of the show, and the decor overall incorporated gold, white and cream with hints of dusty rose. Everything from the bouquets, boutonnieres and centrepieces were some of Rachel's favourite details. "We have a friend who just started a floral design company and we wanted to support her," Rachel explains. "I really trusted her to make our dream come to life, and she did a great job."
Another favourite detail was Rachel's dress. "When I tried it on for the first time, I knew instantly it was the one," Rachel says. "I loved how different it was and the fit made me feel like a million bucks."
The ceremony was by far the best moment of the entire day, according to the couple. "Seeing Scott with tears in his eyes when he greeted me at the end of the aisle made my heart stop," Rachel recalls. "The feeling reaffirmed that this was the man I was meant to be with."
