A Romantic Summer Wedding In Alton, Ontario

A Romantic Summer Wedding in Alton, Ontario -

When asked about how Diana and Sohrab met, Diana laughs. "Believe it or not, we met at a club," she says. "We were both there for our friends' birthdays, and my girlfriends pointed him out to me and told me to talk to him." After agreeing to meet for Greek food on Toronto's Danforth Avenue, the pair learned they had mutual friends. Eight years later, after a few long distance stints and many Skype calls, Diana and Sohrab made it official.

The couple approached their wedding with a romantic look in mind. "We wanted the day to feel classic but also modern," Diana explains. "We chose white, ivory, cream, blush, soft greys, natural greens and brass accents."

With the reception held in a beautiful tent at the Alton Mill Arts Centre, candles, white flowers and greenery adorned the tables. "I loved seeing all the candles lit up in the tent, and sitting under a lace canopy held by our mothers, grandmothers and bridesmaids in front of a traditional Persian sofreh aghd (wedding spread)."

Reading a handwritten letter from Sohrab just before putting on her wedding gown was one of the highlights of the day for Diana. "It took me three attempts to read it because I was in tears," Diana recalls. "Sohrab is a man of few words and to have him do something like this was very unexpected, thoughtful and touching."

They shared their first dance to "Yellow" by Coldplay. After going to several Coldplay concerts together, they knew it was the perfect song for them. "It brought back memories of being in the moment and seeing million lights brighten a dark room," Diana smiles. "We also shared a lot of laughs with this song trying to practice our first dance in the kitchen."
