A Romantic and Intimate Wedding in Toronto's Distillery District - Ceremony

Danni, a Toronto native, and Felipe, an Ecuadorian, first met while they were both living far from home in Australia. After five years of sharing their lives together, he decided to make it official by asking her to marry him with an intimate proposal at their home in Vancouver. "Felipe knelt down beside me, looked deeply in my eyes, and asked me to spend the rest of our days like this, together, in love – married. I obviously said yes!" Danni says.

Their wedding was just as romantic and intimate as the proposal, with a small number of guests and plenty of dreamy decor details. Danni and Felipe chose The Fermenting Cellar in Toronto's chic Distillery District as their venue because of its quaint yet luxurious vibe. "I had been drawn to the Fermenting Cellar since even before I met Felipe," says Danni. "When it came time to pick the space for our wedding, we visited the venue to check it out and immediately fell in love with it."

With the goal of creating a warm and relaxed celebration for their guests, the couple infused the space with soft mood lighting. "We achieved our vision using hundreds of candles (tea lights scattered on tables and windowsills, hurricanes lining the aisle, and lanterns dispersed around the head table), as well as string bulb lights cascading at the alter and over the dance floor," Danni explains. A neutral colour palette of ivory, blush and green accents also helped to create a romantic atmosphere, while uplighting accentuated the natural texture of the walls.

The intimate setting proved to be perfectly suited to Danni and Felipe's relationship, and the ideal backdrop for reciting their vows to one another. "We chose to write our own vows and we both agree that it's the one aspect of the wedding that we're most proud of. Hearing and reading something that came straight from the heart was simply priceless," Danni says.
