Cameron and Amy met at a cottage party with friends on the May long weekend of 2011. Looking back, the couple laughs at the story. "I hadn't quite figured out how sunscreen worked at that point, so staying true to form, I had third degree sunburns on a balmy afternoon during 20 degree weather," Amy says with a laugh. "By Saturday night, I was a lobster!" Cam says Amy was "the most beautiful lobster I'd ever seen." After shaking hands, Amy knew he was special. "By the end of the night, people were joking that we already seemed like a couple despite having just met," Amy recalls.
The couple wanted to ensure their wedding was romantic, relaxed and authentic. Their priority was to make sure that everyone had a great time along with fabulous food and drinks, so they chose a restaurant in downtown Toronto as their venue. "Canoe was a beautiful location, with its interesting art, furniture and stunning view of downtown Toronto," Amy says.
The decor included candles and flowers in shades of blush, cream and black, creating a romantic and dramatic ambiance. "The flowers were such an important part of the overall look," Amy explains. "Our florist did such unique and beautiful work."
The ceremony included many sweet, funny and teary-eyed moments. "Cam kissed me as soon as I got to the altar," Amy explains. "The officiant quickly stepped in to say, 'too soon!'"
