A Nature-Inspired Rustic Wedding in Almonte, Ontario

Bailey and Joseph had always wanted to have their venue at a location that was both meaningful and relaxed. "When my parents offered to hold it at their house, which is at the edge of a forest, we were thrilled and jumped at the opportunity," Bailey shares. "As lovers of the environment and animals, a stable wedding surrounded by the forest where I grew up was the perfect choice." The couple, having been friends since they were 12, getting married on a property where they shared memories was extremely special.

Wanting to highlight the beauty of the venue, the couple gave their florist the instructions to decorate the venue with just greenery. "Using only clear glasse vases, she perfectly featured greenery of all shapes and shades, covering the venue with stunning eucalyptus garlands, giant hanging ferns, a dramatic palm, fern and monstera leaves," Bailey says. "She tied in hints of burgundy to keep with our colour palette as well."

The ceremony was held in a clearing in the forest at the edge beside and old horse paddock, with a platform built at one of the couple's favourite spots. While guests waited for the ceremony to begin, they were served a "Bailey's and Joe" iced-coffee signature cocktail—a nod to the bride and groom's names—in classes hand-painted by the bride's aunt, which also served as wedding favours. "During the ceremony, we stood on the platform with the officiant, Joseph's uncle, and our bridal party surrounding us in a semi-circle," Bailey says. "Being completely encircled by all the people we love most. in a setting we loved, was unexpectedly powerful."
