Troy and Amanda met on Tinder. “We call each other the ‘Tinder Winners,'" Amanda recalls with a laugh. After dating for sometime, the couple got engaged during a weekend trip to Nashville, Tennessee. Amanda almost missed the trip to stay home and take care of their new puppy. “Troy immediately panicked, as little did I know he was planning to propose on this weekend getaway,” Amanda recalls. After some persuading, Amanda left for Tennessee with Troy, and on the last day of the trip, he popped the question. “He took me to the Belle Meade Botanical Gardens and asked me for my hand in a beautiful gazebo overlooking the gardens,” Amanda smiles. “It was perfect, he caught me completely off guard!”
The wedding celebration took place in a lakeside forest with a Tudor-style mansion nearby. It was everything the couple was looking for and tied in perfectly with their wedding vision of elegance and simplicity.
Amanda and Troy put a lot of thought into every detail of their day. Troy drank only Avalon milk for a year leading up to the wedding so they could use the glass bottles as centrepieces.
The couple’s favourite part of the day was their first look, where they felt all the stress and nerves melt away. “We were both so overwhelmed by the excitement of the day. Once we were able to finally see each other all the stress and feelings of being overwhelmed settled,” Amanda and Troy recall. Another favourite moment was when they stood together at the altar, looking out at their friends and family. “We never realized how many amazing, wonderful people loved us."
For their first dance, they chose "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen in honour of Troy’s mother who passed away in 2016. "She used to play the song during family road trips and whenever Troy hears it, he’s reminded of her," Amanda explains. "We wanted to incorporate her as much as we could so he felt she was with him."
