A Magical Winter Wedding In Quebec
Ian and Becca knew that they wanted to include elements of their first encounter in their winter wedding. "Ian and I met in a warming cabin while cross-country skiing in Gatineau Park in Quebec," Becca shares. "The cozy fire-lit cabin played matchmaker, along with my cousin Laurel 'who just knew' we should meet!"
Fairmont Le Château Montebello proved to be the perfect setting for the winter wedding celebration. Sleigh rides, a stunning six-sided fireplace and a log cabin that could accommodate all their guests were among the special features that drew Becca and Ian to this particular venue. "We knew immediately it was the perfect location," Becca smiles.
The couple's favourite moment was the surprise flash mob that all their guests participated in, coordinated by their friend Richelle. "We had absolutely no idea," Becca laughs. "Ian and I screamed as it all unfolded--we couldn't believe it! It was an unreal surprise!"
To highlight Becca's Newfoundland heritage and to recognize her family members in Newfoundland who couldn't attend, the couple gave their parents and wedding party mittens knitted by women from a church in Mount Pearl. "The wedding party loved receiving them and it was such a nice tribute to my family in Newfoundland," Becca says. Becca Carroll and Ian Waugh, February 27, 2016, Montebello, Quebec.
