Katy Perry and Russell Brand arrived in India yesterday and the frenzy over their upcoming wedding this weekend is hitting a fever pitch. At press time, here’s what we know (or think we know).
• The pair will be married on Saturday in a Hindu ceremony at Aman-i-Khas Resort in Jaipur. From there the celebration is rumored to last six days. • 80 guests will be attending. Thirteen vehicles have been hired to shuttle guests around the Jaipur area. • The pair reportedly are wearing traditional India wedding garb—Perry is currently sporting a nose ring traditionally worn by Indian brides. • For the wedding ceremony, Brand could make an dramatic entrance on a white horse, surrounded by camels and elephants as per previous traditional ceremonies held at Aman-i-Khas Resort. • Perry is scheduled to have a traditional mehndi ceremony on Friday in advance of her wedding day on Saturday.
More details as events warrant, but personally I can’t wait to see it, though the pair vows it will not be published in the media (sorry, that I can’t see!). We haven’t had a wedding this lavish since Elizabeth Hurley and Aran Nayar’s in 2007 where the pair had a traditional Anglican ceremony in England, followed by a Hindu ceremony and six days of reveling in Jodhpur.
