"We almost lived together once," Alisa admits when asked about how she and Mathieu met. "He was looking for a roommate, and I was looking for a room." It never ended up happening, but a few years later the pair met again and sparks flew.
For their wedding, the couple wanted colours that would pop, but also represented their simple and sweet personalities. "We chose yellow and white for the flowers, and shades of grey to tie everything together," Alisa shares. The ceremony was held at the bride's parents' home, decked out in DIY details by the bride's mother, including the buckets of white and yellow flowers that adorned the aisles.
Their first dance was one of Alisa's favourite moments. "Mathieu picked Eric Clapton's 'You Look Wonderful Tonight,'" she smiles. "I know it meant a great deal to him. The song fits us like a glove--we are a team and I feel the song portrays that. We also like that it is a little cheesy. But good cheesy. We like the cheese sometimes."
At the orchard reception, guests enjoyed a buffet meal of roasted pig, baked potatoes and salads. Dessert wasn't a wedding cake, but a tower of pies. "We baked all the pies together with the help of a few friends, froze them, and then created the tower of pies on the day of the wedding," Alisa explains. "My dad even built a big stand so we could layer them in a perfect tower!"
