For their wedding, Julie and Maxime wanted beautiful, out-of-the-ordinary decor that was also romantic. "To achieve that effect we put emphasis on birch wood with lots of flowers and candles," Julie says. "The palette we chose was blush and grey, since these colours are perfectly matched and also worked well with the wood."

One of the bride's favourite details was her gorgeous dress. "For my wedding I wanted something specific, which represented me—I wanted to have a romantic yet elegant gown," Julie explains. I ended up with a backless dress that had a lot of lace and a long, flowing train--I felt truly sexy and beautiful."

The couple chose three songs for different parts of their day. "During the ceremony it was Pachelbel’s 'Canon in D,' the same classical song my parents used at their wedding," Julie says. "For the first dance we picked the sensual tango tune 'Santa Maria' by Gotan Project. Later my father whirled me around the dance floor during the father-daughter dance to 'My Girl' by The Temptations."

For the bride, the best part about planning the wedding was the big surprise she and Maxime prepared for the guests. Wanting to do something different and sensual for the first dance, the couple took eight group lessons to learn the basics of tango. "Since it’s a very technical dance we then had 12 private lessons with a professional Argentine tango dancer," Julie shares. "We really liked it and had so much fun; plus it made the first dance very personal to us. It segued into a great party—the dance floor was full and everyone was happy."
