Having met in university pursuing degrees in physical education and health, Rosie and Nick were familiar faces to each other as they both started their careers in athletics (Rosie made history in 2016 when she became the first trampolinist to ever win back-to-back Olympic gold medals). One spectacular flag football catch and a chat over lunch was all it took to begin the relationship of this active and adventurous couple. They've been together ever since, and on a New Year's Eve spent at home in 2016, Nick proposed to Rosie.
The couple had always wanted to get married outdoors, and decided to choose a venue where friends and family could gather for the weekend to have a great time without having to worry about anything. They picked the rustic, natural beauty of Camp New Moon to set the backdrop for the ceremony, photos and the reception, as well as providing activities for their guests. Whether it was relaxing by the lake, playing games, swimming, canoeing or chatting, Camp New Moon set the perfect vibe for their weekend wedding retreat.
One of the highlights of the day was the surprise that awaited Rosie and Nick following their ceremony. In a grand gesture worthy of any romantic comedy, Rosie's aunt revealed the boat that she had been secretly restoring over the past year in time for the wedding day. Sitting at the dock was the beautiful wooden gentlemen’s racer boat that had belonged to the bride's grandfather, who passed away in 2008. "As a kid I have so many memories with my family in that boat," Rosie says. "It was a symbol of so many happy times growing up at the cottage." Rosie and Nick were able to spend their first minutes after saying "I do" together on the water.
What helped make Nick and Rosie's wedding so unique were all the personal touches incorporated into the day. The photographer, Pam Kriangkum, was an old gymnastic teammate of Rosie's, the DJ went to university with the bride and groom, Nick’s family made half of the cakes, and many friends helped with finishing details. Having the extra help from trusted friends and family added to the easy and stress-free feel of the wedding, making the weekend truly unforgettable.
