A Glamorous Summer Wedding In Montreal

  |  By Kimberly Aglipay

For Brett and Eric, both the date and location of their wedding held special meaning. The couple tied the knot on their tenth anniversary in Montreal, where they were both born and raised. "Getting married in Old Montreal along the water was a dream come true," Brett shares.

The ceremony was held at the Montreal Science Centre, a modern, industrial venue with glass walls and exposed beams. The couple wanted to introduce warmth into the space with amber lighting, lush greenery and white flowers.

Brett admits the lead up to her big day was slightly stressful. "My wedding dress, shoes and veil were stolen out of my car one week before the wedding," Brett says. "There were no suspects in the robbery, and to this day, I don't know who took the dress or why." With the help of the team from Theia Couture, Brett was able to get the same wedding gown shipped from the U.S. and fitted and tailored with her dressmaker in time for the wedding. "I am very grateful for the help and support I received in this very unique situation, and will definitely pay it forward," Brett says, "Without a doubt, that incident made my wedding much more memorable and special."

Dress crisis averted, the rest of the event went off without a hitch. Brett and Eric exchanged vows in a sunset ceremony underneath a stunning chuppah of birch and greenery with 250 of their closest family and friends in attendance. Later, they shared their first dance to "500 Miles," a Sleeping At Last cover of the original Proclaimers' song. "With a new instrumental and pace, we fell in love with the song all over again and knew it had to be the one for us."
