A Glamorous, Romantic Winter Wedding in Elora, Ontario

Amanda and Mark first met through mutual friends at a summer Rib Fest in 2010. A month later, they went on their first date. Over the next seven years, the pair bought their own home together and frequently discussed marriage. On November 28, 2019, they were walking through a local park when Mark surprised Amanda with a proposal. "I always thought I would know when an engagement was coming by the way Mark would act, but I had no idea the whole time!" Amanda exclaims.

The couple chose the Elora Mill Hotel & Spa as their wedding venue before it was even built. "As soon as we saw the drawings of what was to come, we thought, "If this place is even close to what the pictures promise, then it doesn't get any more perfect!" The first and last location they visited, Amanda and Mark booked the venue on the spot.

Inspired by the romantic and glamorous atmosphere of their venue, Amanda and Mark's wedding decor included candles, cascading greenery and flowers and accents of rose gold sparkles. "The beautiful grand fireplaces in both the ceremony and reception spaces were a huge part of the intimate, fairy-tale ambience we desired," Amanda says. Because they were married on a cold Canadian day, Amanda and Mark wanted their wedding to feel warm and inviting for their guests. "Our wedding hashtag was #gettingcozywiththerosies," Amanda explains.

The groom chose the couple's first dance song: "Say You Won't Let Go" by James Arthur. "We didn't have a special song so we planned to choose one together, but one day Mark heard "the perfect song" on the radio," Amanda recalls. "When he played it for me it brought me to tears, and that was the song. I love that it instantly made him think of us." Thinking back to their first dance, the bride remembers this as the moment everything really sank in for her. "I have never felt so safe, happy or in love as we held each other and listened to our song which is so meaningful to us now."
