A French Country Inspired Wedding In Toronto
This couple's personal tastes as well as their heritage was reflected in their wedding theme. "The theme we chose was 'French Country,'" Jessica explains. "Our original location was Normandy, France, where Joseph spent childhood summers at a family cottage, but the weather proved unpredictable." The couple then picked the Toronto Islands, wanting a cottage vibe for their event, but spring flooding forced them to choose another venue. "It ended up moving us to The Great Hall in Toronto—which worked really well since it was closer to our house," Jessica says.
As a wedding planner, Jessica enjoyed incorporating her eye for design into their big day, as well as elements from both cultures. "My personal style and our blended families were reflected in the mismatched vintage blue China plates and modern cutlery," Jessica says. "My favourite muted blue colour is the shade of Parisian roofs—a nod to Joseph’s French background."
One of Jessica's favourite details was her Ines Di Santo gown. "I wanted the ideal blend of effortless glam and modernity," Jessica explains. "It was light and easy to move in, and the champagne undertones gave it the perfect vintage look. I also liked that it was by a Toronto designer."
"I’m all about favours that are functional and/or edible, so we did both," Jessica says. Guests devoured delicious cake pops and took home a custom-made wooden place card attached to a keychain that could be used as a napkin ring, keychain or luggage tag. The couple also had a mobile ice cream bar. "Monsieur Wilson set up an ice cream and frozen yogurt station, which included the terrific detail of our names stamped on each cup," Jessica shares. "It was a hit for all ages!"
