A Fairy Tale Winter Wedding in Toronto

A Fairytale Winter Wedding in Toronto, Ontario - Bride and Groom

Nelson Thall proposed to Talia Brown on a boat ride in Ontario cottage country, right in front of the spot where they shared their first kiss. "He held my hand and got on one knee and asked if I would marry him," Talia shares. "Quickly, without really realizing this was the moment, I said 'of course, I can't live without you.'"

From the beginning, Nelson and Talia knew that their wedding theme would be whimsical fairytale. "We looked at many venues around the city, but Nel kept saying they didn't remind him of me," Talia explains. When the couple received a tour of the Crystal Ballroom at The Omni King Edward Hotel, they knew it was the perfect fit. "It was exactly what we envisioned. Very Beauty and the Beast."

The wedding décor followed a theme of light blues, golds and whites inspired by the room itself. The bride's gorgeous unique blue dress was a custom creation by Nikki Yassemi of Narces. "Nikki really captured mine and Nelson's dream for the dress to embrace who I am and our theme of winter romance," Talia shares.

Talia and Nelson knew they wanted to create a special guest experience at their wedding. The couple opted for a weekday wedding on a Thursday evening. "We greeted our guests as they started arriving at 6 p.m. All the food stations were open, so they were able to start eating and drinking right away," Talia explains.

At around 8 p.m., the couple changed into their second outfits and the ceremony took began with guests relaxed at their tables. "My father was the officiant, so only our families were present under the chuppah together," Talia explains. "We enjoyed every moment of the service; we were both very present and we loved it."

After the ceremony ended, the couple headed down the aisle and immediately had their first dance to the song "With You" by Tyler Shaw—performed by the musician himself. "I styled the music video for the song, and the song itself is about Tyler's first dance, so it was perfect," Talia shares. "We danced with our parents halfway through the song."

When it came to one of the best parts of their day, the couple agrees that the timeline and unconventional format was a great choice. "Everyone kept saying "You've figured this out! Eating before the ceremony was amazing!" Talia says. "There was no yawning during the ceremony, everyone was fed and happy and it went over so well!"
