An Ethereal, Woodsy Wedding In Nova Scotia

A Whimsical Woodland Wedding in Pictou, Nova Scotia - Bride and Groom

Aimee and Mike met more than 10 years ago in college. At the time, Aimee was studying interior design while Mike studied firefighting at the same campus. All the while, Mike acted as a steadfast supporter of Aimee, cooking her meals and keeping her company through various design projects. Since then, Mike has remained a sturdy rock in Aimee's life. "We’ve been through a lot of life milestones together – the biggest probably being buying and renovating our first home together," Aimee shares. "If your relationship can be strong through renos it will last a lifetime!"

Aimee and Mike chose to hold their wedding at Pictou Lodge, which set the tone for what Aimee calls, "a woodsy ethereal" decor theme. The couple selected a combo of lavender, mint, and dusty blue for a sea glass colour palette, and added touches of green with lush florals. Aimee's uncle also built a birch tree archway with ribbons in their chosen colour palette for the ceremony.

While the wedding had a woodland theme, Aimee explains it was important that the wedding took place by the ocean. "I had always wanted a wedding ceremony by the ocean – it has always had this magnetic pull for me as an east coast girl." During the outdoor ceremony, Aimee and Mike joined sands from the east coast and Ontario to symbolize their connection. "It was a special way for us to show how we’ve now interconnected our lives (past and present) in a way that can never be separated," Aimee explains.

Aimee says her favourite part of the day was the evening reception, "The love in the air was palpable," she remembers. "The food was amazing, the speeches heartwarming, and the dance floor action was fierce!"
