A Luxurious Fall Wedding In Downtown Toronto

Steve's proposal to Krista came on a snowy evening during the holiday season after a day in Toronto's Distillery District. "I was ready to head home to a warm, cozy evening, but Steve insisted we meet friends at a pizza restaurant for dinner," Krista shares. "Being easily persuaded by Neapolitan pizza, I agreed."

Moments before they entered the restaurant, Steve stopped Krista at the corner, took a ring out of his pocket and asked Krista to marry him. "I was overwhelmed by his question and how beautiful the ring was and said, 'Why would you do this now before we meet friends for pizza? I have to call my mother!'" Krista recalls with a laugh. Steve persuaded Krista to go into the restaurant first before calling her mother, and inside the restaurant Krista discovered their family waiting their arrival.

With a love of all things Toronto, the couple wanted to give their guests the sense of an intimate evening in the city filled with elegance and luxury, choosing the opulent Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto as their venue. "We really wanted to play up the space itself, especially the bold carpet, and use the windows overlooking the city as a magical backdrop," Krista explains. "We wanted it to feel warm and inviting with a hint of moodiness." Inspired by the fall season, they selected rich fall colours including merlot, deep berry tones and hints of gold and cream with a bold floral design.

When it came to decor, Renata of RDT Events + Beauty exceeded the couple's expectations. "We wanted to create something different, keeping away from the traditional ceremony design," Krista reveals. "All evening and weeks later, our guests were swooning over the majestic ceremony. One guest even called it enchanting, and truly magnificent. That's exactly how we felt about it. It was perfect."
