An Elegant Garden Wedding in Winnipeg - Bride and Groom

T.J. popped the question on the morning of Britney's 27th birthday, throwing her off by pretending to be fixing the kitchen sink. "He pulled out a Ziploc bag and said he found what had been clogging the pipes. I spotted a flash of sparkle and finally realized he was proposing! I said 'yes,' of course," she remembers.

When it came time for their wedding day, the couple was disappointed to see that the forecast was not conducive to an outdoor wedding. In fact, it was pouring rain! As they had planned to hold the ceremony in the bride's parents' backyard, they held out hope that it would clear up. "I was determined to think positively since I had always dreamed of getting married in my parents’ backyard," says Britney. "A few hours later, we were lucky enough that the weather changed and our ceremony remained at the house."

Britney and T.J. chose a colour palette of white, gold, blush and raspberry for their wedding to tie together the outdoor ceremony and the indoor reception. "We wanted to create the feeling of an elegant garden party, and the colours kept everything classic yet fresh," Britney explains.

To make the ceremony feel even more special and meaningful, Britney asked T.J. to design and construct a wooden altar for the ceremony. As a finishing touch, the couple decorated it with grapevines from Britney's parents' backyard, creating a stunning and natural look. "The altar was one of my favourite details of the day because T.J. made it himself. We’ll keep it in our yard for years to come as a reminder of our special day," Britney says.
