Jynelle and David met by coincidence when two of their friends recognized each other in passing and stopped to catch up. “We were introduced, shook hands, didn't let go and chatted by the mailbox until Jynelle's friends dragged her away to catch a taxi,” David recalls with a laugh. “Dave called a few days later, we had our first date January 1, 2006, and have been together since,” says Jynelle.
The mailbox where the bride and groom first chatted has become an important landmark for them. “One of Dave's friends actually took a photo of us that night by that mailbox, which we enjoy looking back on and laughing at what a significant night that turned out to be for us,” Jynelle explains. After their first look, the bride and groom actually returned to the same mailbox to recreate the image!
For their decor, Jynelle and David wanted to play off of the natural beauty of their venue, Cielo’s Garden. “We were going for a forest-themed wedding with lots of flowers, candles, lanterns and some of our own personal touches like the Turkish carpets in the ceremony, old family wedding photos and lawn games,” Jynelle explains. The ceremony even featured a chandelier of flowers that hung above the bride and groom. “It felt cozy and comfortable, surrounded by nature with all of our favourite people while we said ‘I do.'”
The bride and groom’s favourite part of the day was when they walked out of the chapel together as a married couple. “After being together for nearly 12 years and seeing all the planning surrounding the big day come together, it was such a special feeling to know that we were finally, officially married,” they explain.
For the first dance, they chose "Sea of Love" by Langhorne Slim and Jill Andrews. The dance took place in an ornate tent set up by their venue. “We loved that we could see the sky and the trees from everywhere in the tent,” the couple says. “Dancing and celebrating under the night sky was the perfect way to end the most amazing day.”
