A Rustic Country Wedding Outside of Ottawa - Bride and Groom

Lindsay and Robert's love story is a cross-country one. The couple met at the Shawville Fair in Quebec and were engaged in Alberta during a vacation together, exploring the Columbia icefields. "We went on a walk not far from our hotel to get to this gorgeous view of the Kananaskis River," Lindsay recalls. "It was perfect--the sky was a pretty purple and the moon was out and full. Rob couldn't have chosen a more perfect spot to ask me to spend the rest of my life with him."

While planning their wedding, the pair knew they wanted to treat their guests to a warm, country celebration that had a vintage look and a touch of elegance. "We came up with wood, lace and pearls as the inspiration for our wedding theme," Lindsay explains. "Our wedding venue, Evermore, was absolutely stunning and the perfect fit for us. We fell in love as soon as we walked into the barn!"

When it comes to her favourite wedding details, Lindsay divulges how much she loved their DIY centrepieces. "So much work was put into them!" Lindsay smiles. "The boxes were built out of old barn board and the flowers were hand-picked from the side of the road the night before."

Lindsay and Rob also put together the large photo backdrop. "We spent hours building, staining and hand-painting it," Lindsay shares. "We wanted to give our guests a personal touch from us, and allow them to enjoy many couple and group pictures."
