A Classic Wedding With Modern Details In Calgary
Jeremy proposed to Yoorim on Valentine’s Day weekend during a helicopter ride over Banff. "I was floored by the view and I remember feeling so lucky to have him as my boyfriend," Yoorim says with a laugh. "Jeremy turned in mid-air, pushed the headset button and said, “Yoorim, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I was so surprised I said “Yes!” but forgot to push the button so I had to say it again!"
The couple wanted a wedding that was timeless, but also modern. "At first we had a hard time marrying the two themes," Yoorim explains. "After endless researching for inspiration, I came across these beautifully shaped geometric terrariums in gold." Deciding she wanted to make them instead of purchasing them abroad, Yoorim made 144 geometric glass centrepieces, which took months to handcraft. "I created assorted shapes and sizes, and filled them with arrangements of blush flowers, moss, succulents and loose leaves," she says.
The bride and groom's first look happened at Nose Hill Park in Calgary, with the aspen trees serving as the perfect backdrop for their spring wedding day. "Seeing Jeremy for the first time on our wedding day gave me butterflies," Yoorim says. "It was a breathtaking moment—it felt like we were the only people on the earth."
After the reception, guests were sent home with Sriracha keychain favours printed with the couple's logo. "Jeremy and I absolutely love hot sauce and we put it on everything," Yoorim explains. "It was totally appropriate and fitting to give away our favourite condiment at the end of the night!"
