Mary Beth and Ryan were engaged during a trip of a lifetime to the Canadian Rockies. "He popped the question in front of a breathtaking mountain view on the Village Rim in Kananaskis Country--one of his favourite places on earth," Mary Beth recalls. "Of course, I said yes!" The pair celebrated their engagement by continuing their trip through the mountains to Banff, Lake Louise and Calgary.
Knowing they wanted to pay homage to their love of Toronto on their wedding day, Mary Beth and Ryan chose the city's Thompson Hotel as their venue. "Our venue provided the perfect view of the city and you can actually see our house from up there," Mary Beth explains. "It really showed our guests who we are and the neighbourhood we live in."
To complement their venue, the couple chose a classic wedding theme with a modern feel, incorporating grey, gold and white details. "We wanted our wedding to be timeless and classic with a bit of modern flair, which our venue added," Mary Beth says. "The flowers were the best detail--they were so beautiful and added softness to the modern hotel venue."
Personal elements were woven through the entire day. "My something old was an antique brooch from my late grandmother," Mary Beth says with a smile. "We also decided to have our close friend marry us. We wanted that personal touch during our ceremony and to feel comfortable being surrounded by close friends and family."
