Catherine and Yvon met when the pair carpooled together from Montreal to Quebec City for a medical conference. "He had it easy from day one," Catherine says with a laugh. "He had my name, email address and my phone number!" The pair were engaged in Chile, a year after buying their rings together in Paris. "Yvon got down on one knee, pretending to tie his shoe, and proposed," Catherine says.
For their wedding, Catherine and Yvon wanted a bright and fresh palette. "I just chose my favourite colours and decided I would make them work together," Catherine says. "Rose gold, navy, sage, blush and fuchsia ended up being a gorgeous combination." The decor included glittery rose gold tablecloths and navy and sage tapered candles. A favourite detail was the copper arch made by Yvon's father. "With the sage-coloured draping that our planner strategically placed and the pretty greenery from our florist, it was more beautiful than we imagined it," Catherine explains. "We loved it so much we used it afterwards for our photo booth!"
Catherine and Yvon also had a mixologist friend create a custom welcome cocktail. "We asked him to make something typical of the drinks we order when we go out on dates," Catherine remarks. The end result was a yummy, bubbly, ginger lemonade drink with a touch of sake, gin and special bitters that added a personal touch to the cocktail hour.
In the end, the couple's favourite memory was exchanging our vows in front of loved ones and joining lives forever. "It’s not an overrated moment," Catherine says. "During dinner we took quiet time together to appreciate how 200 people we care about came from all around to world to celebrate with us. This was actually how we described it when we made the welcome toast: it was our 'love party!'"
