Alix and Andy got engaged in Los Angeles during an early morning hike in the Hollywood Hills. "He waited until we got to the top, and the sun had rose, and then he popped the question," Alix shares.
The couple chose an old-world theme with a colour palette of black, white and gold to play off the beautiful surroundings of the Distillery District. "We wanted to create the feleing that you were stepping back in time," Alix explains. "Think Peaky Blinders meets Secret Garden." Floral arrangements by Cool Green and Shady were exactly what the bride and groom envisioned. "They were so pretty and the perfect mix of trendy and classic," Alix says. "I especially loved the arrangements on the barrels for the ceremony."
Initially, rainy weather had the couple thinking they were going to have to bring their couryard ceremony indoors. "We convinced ourselves it would be inside and just accepted it, as the weather called for thunderstorms during the ceremony time," Alix recalls. "When the forecast changed about an hour before the ceremony, we were thrilled."
One of the Alix's favourite details were the bridesmaid gowns. "After photographing so many weddings, I really wanted to have an element that I had never seen at a wedding before," Alix says. "It was a bit of a risk because I didn't know how it was going to come out, but it worked and they looked amazing."
