When it came to planning their wedding, Iulia and Steve knew they wanted their celebration to be all about fun, family, friends and food. After days of searching for an unconventional venue by visiting parks, barns, lakeside retreats and even a hippie commune, they chose the Steam Whistle Brewery—it had everything they wanted, including 10,000 litres of beer. Although originally toying with a music theme, they opted instead for ornate and vintage elements. This allowed Iulia’s creative DIY side to shine, something that turned her and Steve’s house into an “explosion of random, bizarre-looking tools and materials known only as the ‘craft table’.” After an entertaining vintage wedding celebration in Toronto, complete with confetti and streamer cannons, they flew to Romania to celebrate in Iulia’s hometown of Craiova. “Our vintage wedding in Toronto was awesome. Family and friends were there, the food was awesome and the alcohol was flowing—it was a perfect day,” Iulia says. “Two days later we flew to Romania to do it all over again!”
