Rhiannon is about unconventional a bride as a girl can be. “I was not a glam bride or even a traditional bride,” she recalls. “I am nontraditional but slightly conservative, simple and classy. I like to do things a little different.” Departing from the traditional is exactly what Rhiannon and Keith did when it came to their rather unorthodox journey to the altar. Throughout the course of her relationship with Keith, Rhiannon contested the need for an engagement ring or proposal, and had even bought her wedding dress before Keith actually popped the question. But once Keith did propose during a romantic getaway to Muskoka, the couple was faced with the important task of finding the perfect location to match their outdoorsy personalities. “We love to be outside in the great outdoors,” says Rhiannon. “It was important for us to give that experience to our guests. We knew that the location would make this not just your typical wedding.”
For their summer nuptials, Rhiannon and Keith wanted to bring their guests to a location that many wouldn’t necessarily visit on their own, and, with its stunning mountainous scenery, British Columbia’s Emerald Lake proved to be the ideal fit. The couple said their “I dos” at the view point of Emerald Lake Lodge in an intimate ceremony with 13 of their closest loved ones. Rhiannon admits she didn’t have a particular theme in mind for their wedding, but knew she wanted to incorporate hues of green and purple to exude elements of nature and the outdoors. Reflecting on their special day, Rhiannon says she loved having the chance to unwind and spend time with loved ones. “Our wedding day was more like a wedding weekend bringing family and friends together to eat, drink, play outside and just disconnect from the routine of life,” she says. “Our wedding truly was an escape from reality for a few days and it was perfect.”
