An Idyllic Barnyard Wedding in Hubbards, Nova Scotia

Andrea and Matthew met at Dalhousie University in 2001, they were always good friends, but Andrea admits she secretly wanted to be more. "We were both always seeing other people until Fall 2007 when we were both single and the rest is history." shares Andrea.

When they were home over Thanksgiving weekend, the couple spent a beautiful fall day in the yard raking leaves. Later, when they were taking a break, Matthew popped the question. "It was a day much like the very first days of our relationship during which we fell in love, so it meant a lot to both of us," recalls Andrea.

The couple decided on a DIY barnyard wedding at Hubbards Barn outside Halifax. They both agree that their best moment was walking in for dinner. "We were given a standing ovation. In that moment, we really felt how excited everyone was for us. It really set the tone for the rest of the night!"

Andrea's favourite wedding details were the flowers, which exceeded what she could have ever imagined. "Seeing my bouquet for the first time made me cry because I was overwhelmed by how perfect it was," exclaims Andrea. Matthew's favourite detail was the photography. "On a day that goes by so quickly, we are fortunate to have Michelle's photos as a keepsake of the day," says Matthew.
