Carole and Michel had both previously been in long relationships and each had raised their now grown-up children before they finally met and fell in love. That’s how they both instantly knew that they were soulmates. The bride remembers, “We just knew right away that we were meant to be together for the rest of our lives.” Their wedding day was, above all, about celebrating their union in the company of their loved ones and especially, their adult children.
For her gown, Carole wanted an original vintage-style wedding dress. With the help of a talented seamstress, she found and altered a dress pattern, chose the perfect fabric, and the wedding dress of her dreams was brought to life.
The day of their wedding, the couple chose to first exchange their vows alone, with only their photographers present. “Since the photographers knew we wanted to exchange very personal wedding vows in complete privacy, they suggested a place where we could be out of sight,” Carole shares. “Without even being aware of the significance, they suggested the Bois-de-Coulonge park in Quebec City, a location where Michel and I often go for walks. It just added another level of meaningfulness. The photographers were so respectful, we even forgot that they were present. That was the moment we felt we were really getting married, and we will cherish it for the rest of our lives.”
Following the exchange of their intimate vows, the official ceremony and reception took place at the Manoir Montmorency, just outside of Quebec City. “In the evening, our four children surprised us by having prepared a little speech, telling stories of their childhood, and especially how we had succeeded, Michel and I, in creating a new family,” concludes the bride.
