An Elegant, Old Hollywood-Inspired Wedding in Hamilton, Ontario

LIUNA Station, a restored train station dating from 1931 in Hamilton was the stunning architectural backdrop for Danielle and Nick’s elegant, perfectly polished celebration.

The couple and their wedding planner, Shaw Events, set the stage for a mega party—they hosted 340 guests! They chose all-white decor with rich, minimalist gold accents, right down to the white dance floor marked with the couple’s gilded initials.

“We wanted our wedding to be classic and sophisticated, something that would not appear dated when we look back on our wedding photos,” says Danielle, who is an Ontario-based virtual naturopathic doctor. “We achieved this with the white decor. As well, the florals were designed in a traditional shape and used minimal greenery to allow emphasis on the beauty of the individual blooms.”

Danielle’s stunning wedding gown was one of her favourite details of the day. “My dress had a silhouette reminiscent of an Old Hollywood design but had special, modern touches,” she says. Danielle found her dream dress at White Toronto—the Viktor and Rolf design stopped her immediately in the store during her shopping appointment.

“My gown was embellished with 3-D Plexiglas flower details and crystals. They were so unique and gave the dress the edge I was looking for.” The team at White Toronto even created a custom capelet, which Danielle wore for the ceremony and removed for the reception, giving her two unique looks.

For her walk down the aisle, it was essential for Danielle to have both parents by her side. “It was so important to have my parents stand beside me as I walked down the aisle toward Nick, because I’m so close to both of them and they play an equally important role in my life,” she admits.

Post-nuptials, the couple treated guests to a lavish party filled with incredible decor details and delectable food. Chef Claudio Pingue created a menu to remember, which kicked off with cocktails and antipasti, then moved to an opulent plated dinner, followed some hours later with a lavish moonlight buffet. Their wedding cake was a sumptuous blend of vanilla and chocolate created by Marcia at The Dessert Room. It was artfully finished with fondant, gold-foil accents and fresh florals, in keeping with their signature all-white theme.

When it came to party time, the couple kicked things off with a first dance to their chosen wedding song, “From the Ground Up” by Dan and Shay, performed by The Digs. “The lyrics fit so perfectly with what we feel is most important,” Danielle reveals.

“The love we both grew up surrounded by and look up to, and how important family is to us, means everything,” Danielle says. “We danced the night away with our closest friends and family, to the sounds of this incredible band. Seeing the guests’ smiles as they came together on the dance floor was a picture- perfect ending to our flawless wedding day.”
