An Elegant Grey and Blue Wedding in Winnipeg

Tom had grand plans of proposing to Miriam during a hot air balloon ride, but on the day of the couple's scheduled flight there wasn't enough wind for the balloon to take flight so he had to quickly change his plan of attack. "As we were driving away from the site, we passed a park we hadn't visited before, and Tom pulled over and said we should take a walk and see if it would be a good park to bring our dogs," explains Miriam. "We walked around for a bit -- it was a beautiful park -- and then Tom asked if I wanted to talk about the future. I assumed he was talking about my career, as I was in the midst of figuring out my next step, and whether it would involve moving, so I went on for a bit about the options. Then I asked him what he thought; he dropped down on one knee, with the most beautiful ring and said, "I just have one question for you, will you marry me?"

For her wedding day, Miriam decided to focus on a colour palette rather than a specific theme. "Tom likes blue and so do I so we paired that with charcoal, which is a sophisticated neutral that flattered everyone in the wedding party," explains Miriam. "We didn't really have a theme for the wedding. When people asked we told them our theme was 'wedding,'" Miriam jokes.

The couple's reception space was set up with simple ivory chair covers, elegant place settings and lovely hydrangea and rose centrepieces. "Because not all of our guests are Jewish, we made a wedding program that included an explanation of the elements of a Jewish wedding ceremony, along with the names of our bridesmaids and groomsmen," shares Miriam.
