Justin and Tina met while students at the University of Toronto and though they met in 2006, they didn’t start dating until 2011. “We built a great friendship over five years and eventually we both realized we had deeper feelings for each other,” Tina shares. When it came to their engagement, Justin planned a surprised planned a surprise proposal weekend. He took Tina to dinner under the guise of celebrating his new job. “Justin also booked a hotel suite for the night (and stashed my next-day clothes and makeup there) and made appointments at a spa for the following day, and he’d arranged for my parents to meet us at home later on to celebrate. At dinner, when the dessert arrived with 'Will you marry me?' written on it, I was in shock!”

For their summer wedding the couple hosted 170 guests at Toronto’s Casa Loma. Tina says her goal with the décor was to fill the venue with flowers. “I LOVE flowers! We wanted sprawling centrepieces, bouquets and a head-table runner, and our florist delivered our vision perfectly. The mix of garden roses, spray roses, lisianthus, stock flowers, silver dollar eucalyptus and Italian ruscus, together with the candlelight, created a romantic feeling.”

The couple also admit they are both sweets lovers and that is another thing they wanted to fill their wedding with. “We opted for two cake flavours: a chocolate cake with hazelnut buttercream, salted caramel and candied hazelnuts, and a vanilla cake with lemon mascarpone buttercream and fresh raspberries. Nadia from Nadia & Co. was the master behind these creations and everything looked artistic and beautiful which we had envisioned for the space.”

Tina says pulling up for her ceremony in a white 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was a dream moment she’ll remember forever. While it was beautiful for photos and our classic theme, Justin and I especially loved having a quiet moment together in the car after the ceremony.”
