An Elegant Destination Wedding in Washington

Jenny and Ali met on Jenny's very first day on the job at the company where the couple still works. Their engagement took place during a fun weekend getaway to Seattle. "Ali had planned a surprise evening and all he told me was to dress nice," recalls Jenny. During a dinner theatre performance of "Teatro Zinzanni", Ali and Jenny were pulled onstage. "One second Ali was trying to spin a ball on top of my head and the next he was down on one knee proposing," laughs Jenny.

The twosome returned to Washington for their casual yet elegant wedding, which they hosted at the Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine. During the ceremony, their officiant took a moment to acknowledge Ali's father and brother who have passed away. "It was the first time I've ever seen Ali tear up," says Jenny. "It was such an emotional moment, which signified his past journey and the new adventure we were embarking on together."

For their wedding song, the couple decided on "This Kind of Love" by Sister Hazel. "I heard this song for the first time at least five years ago and knew it would one day be my wedding song." After playing it for Ali, he agreed it was perfect. "We didn't want a wedding song that was trendy or popular right now."

One of Jenny and Ali's favourite wedding details was their candy and dessert table, which was coordinated to match their wedding colours: gold, white and blush pink. They had everything from a cupcake tower to apothecary jars filled with candy. Another favourite was their photo table with black and white photographs of their family, which go back multiple generations. "It was a special way to acknowledge our loved ones."
