While delivering a speech at a military Christmas function about the importance of celebrating family, Phillip got down on one knee and surprised Kristine with a proposal. “I was filled with joy and excitement at the thought of marrying my best friend and the love of my life,” confesses Kristine. Together the pair planned a whimsical nature-inspired wedding as a way to honour their shared love of the outdoors. Embellished with green and navy blue accents, ferns—symbolic of Kristine’s hometown province of British Columbia—and birchbark details, Kristine and Phillip’s special day was exactly how they had always envisioned it. “Our wedding was a wonderful celebration filled with friends and family. It was perfect,” they both agree.
