With pops of vibrant colour and tons of original details, Nancy and Dylan’s whimsical wedding was about as unique as they come.
“Our invites were designed like an old newspaper complete with two articles about how we met and got engaged, ads featuring the breakfast buffet for dinner, places to stay, directions, ceremony info and a tear off RSVP which was designed like a coupon,” says Nancy, who runs a design and photography business that specializes in unique stationery.
At their outdoor ceremony, underneath a sign that said "Join the Fan Club", guests were given square fans that read "I’m a fan of Nancy & Dylan," and included information about the wedding party on the opposite side.
Nancy and Dylan surprised everyone at the ceremony when two lucky guests were given the role of secret ring bearers. “We had friends who helped us secure ring boxes randomly under two of the chairs,” Nancy explains. “Then during the ceremony we asked to flip their chairs over to find the rings, it was the best idea ever!”
Once the two were announced as officially married, Nancy and Dylan pulled out a two-foot-long pair of scissors and cut a glitter ribbon before they walked down the aisle together as husband and wife.
In lieu of a traditional seating chart, guests had their names written on a scratch ticket, which instructed them to scratch boxes until they found their tables. Place settings included place mats featuring cartoon characters of the couple, crosswords, word searches and mazes. To keep the guests further entertained, a magician performed table magic throughout the night.
The couple chose Jack Johnson’s ‘Banana Pancakes’ as their wedding song, which tied in perfectly with the evening and the breakfast buffet they served for dinner.
