This celebration of Amy and Kumbo makes me smile!
Everything about their wedding, from the decor to all the fun shades, truly speaks volumes of their fun-loving personality. Melanie Segal of inBloom Event Design had much to share about the happy duo:
HOW THEY MET:
"The two met at a bar in Vancouver and danced together but Amy left before he asked for her number. Just by chance, Amy got free tickets to a Ben Harper concert the next night and went, and the two ran into each other by coincidence. They basically decided it was fate, and he wouldn't let her go again without her number, they've been together ever since."
ABOUT THE COUPLE AND THEIR WEDDING INSPIRATION:
"They are really awesome people... hilarious, relaxed, fun loving but hardworking. They don't like tradition, hence their wedding! Also, Amy got inspiration for her wedding from her shower curtain–which I find pretty funny!"
THE WEDDING DAY
"There are three words to describe Amy and Kumbo's day: funky, fun and colourful. And this is exactly what Amy asked inBloom Event Design to create for them: an off-beat, nontraditional bohemian affair in Archeo–a rustic and laid back venue where guests would certainly feel as if they were sitting together in Amy and Kumbo's living room. Amy and Kumbo’s late afternoon ceremony was held at the Thompson LandryGallery in the Distillery District. To the soft music of Neil Young’s Harvest Moon, the stunning bride walked to the altar on an aqua damask aisle runner which matched her shoes! As Amy and Kumbo exchanged their heartfelt vows, 94 guestssurround them in a tight knit and intimate circle, with colourful paper flowers hanging overhead, and the beautiful artwork of the gallery providing a colourful backdrop."
THE VENUE
"The venue was decorated to feel like a relaxed bohemian affair: colourful paper flowers hanging overhead, colourful patterned table runners, Moroccan tea light candles, chalkboard menus and table numbers, with yellow orchid and craspedia centerpieces setin vintage aqua mason jars, with just a hint of mint inside for a fresh aroma."
Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you to Amy & Kumbo, inBloom Event Design and Ikonica for sharing such a wonderful, charming and personalized affair with us.
