Lauren and Steven studied anthropology together at the University of Toronto, but it wasn’t until a conference in New Orleans that the two realized they were meant to be more than just classmates. A year later, Steven romantically proposed to Lauren during a casual skating date at Nathan Phillips Square. For their wedding day Lauren shares their theme was “a bit of both of us,” but she especially loved their favours—cherished recipes printed on sets of magnets for their 180 guests. “Each recipe was tested and rewritten multiple times, and we spent hours designing the magnets themselves,” Lauren exclaims. The bride and her guests also raved about the catering by The Food Dudes, who served wild halibut, sticky sweet braised short ribs on a cauliflower purée, and liquid nitrogen ice cream. “They built a kitchen in a tiny space, and then served remarkable appetizers on rustic wooden platters,” Lauren recalls.
