Sarah and Jonathan dated in high school but parted ways to attend different universities. Years later, after they had both graduated and begun their careers, Sarah and Jonathan once again reconnected and have been inseparable since. Their second “first date” was to watch the Canada Day fireworks, so it seemed appropriate that Jonathan picked Canada Day 2011 to ask for Sarah's hand in marriage.
The couple decided on a vibrant blue wedding celebration and worked the colour scheme into everything from the bridemaids' dresses to their signature cocktails. Having spent time in Australia before they began dating, Jonathan introduced Sarah to the music of Australian singer Bernard Fanning. The couple used his song “Watch Over Me” for their wedding, as the lyrics spoke to what they wanted for their marriage. For their honeymoon the couple departed on a Grecian getaway, visiting Athens, Santorini & Mykonos.
