A Traditional, Elegant Wedding In Edmonton

Christina and Caillin's favourite moment of their wedding day was seeing each other for the first time at the church right before Christina walked down the aisle. "I didn’t want any moment to slip by, especially one like that, so I made sure to lock eyes with Caillin before I started walking," Christina recalls. "That made it our moment."

The couple wanted their wedding to be romantic and traditional, going along with the look of their reception venue, The Empire Ballroom at the Hotel Macdonald. "It is beyond gorgeous," Christina says. "We wanted to keep its true beauty without adding much, and also wanted to dress the part." This meant a beautiful ballgown for Christina and tuxes for the guys.

Food is something most people remember from a reception, so Christina and Caillin wanted it to be perfect. The couple opted for plated hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, then fresh rolls, hearty Alberta beef soup, roasted beet salad and a choice of entrée for dinner. "We still hear rave reviews about how great the spread was," Christina smiles.

"The party after dinner was amazing—it was so fun to dance the night away with all our close family and friends," Christina says.

For guests who opted to stay until the wee hours, the couple had a midnight snack table with sandwiches and pizza. "After the reception was over we took the party to the gardens outside and continued to celebrate until 5 a.m!" Christina exclaims.
