A Sweet Summer Wedding in Calgary, Alberta

Maria and Neil met on their first day of teaching orientation at the school where they both still teach. Their engagement also occurred at a teaching event. After finishing a basketball-coaching clinic, the couple returned home to get ready for their school’s annual fundraising gala, a glitzy affair. Shortly after Maria finished doing her hair, Neil knocked on the door and asked to come in. “He opened the door and was standing there in his suit, which was quite a sight,” Maria recalls. She remembers him asking her to help him choose between two ties, but before she could answer, he got down on one knee and popped the question. Maria and Neil walked into the gala, and soon the principal announced their engagement to the entire school community! “It was such a lovely and meaningful way to share our happiness with everyone!”

The couple's sweet summer wedding was held at Pineridge Golf and Country Club in Calgary, Alberta, which was decorated in soft shades perfect for the season. Maria and Neil admit that the highlight of their day was their first kiss as newlyweds but a close second had to be the moment when their closest friends and family members began to serenade them with a song by their favourite band, Boyz II Men!
