It wasn’t love at first sight for Flaxee and Tye, who first met at a camp in Sylvan Lake. It wasn’t until the Tye learned about Flaxee's love of dirt biking that their romance blossomed. “Tye thought that maybe if he bought a dirt bike, I would ask him to come riding with my family…he was right,” explains Flaxee. The first time Tye met Flaxee’s family was dirt biking in Crowsnest Pass, where the couple eventually decided to tie the knot. “The mountains have endless trails, stories, and beauty,” says Flaxee.
From a young age, Flaxee knew she wanted a DIY, vintage wedding. She started collecting odds and ends even before meeting Tye. Some of the couple’s favourite details were these collected elements, which made up the majority of the decor. Flaxee's mother came up with the idea to include various snack bars at the event featuring nachos, cookies, and s'mores to fuel the partygoers. She designed, bought, and baked everything for the snack tables, a detail Flaxee is particularly proud of. Tye also donned a vintage, second-hand suit, which reflected the couple’s theme. “Tye made all my dreams for the wedding I had pictured come to life,” exclaimed Flaxee. Both Flaxee and Tye say that their best moment of the day was seeing each other for the first time surrounded by the breathtaking mountains and the people they love.
