Longtime sweethearts Andrea and Kolton started planning their wedding long before becoming engaged — the couple even put down a deposit on their venue a year before Kolton popped the question!
The couple’s advance planning and attention to detail showed through in their gorgeous celebration filled with blush, gold and seafoam accents. Andrea admits that her reception space took her breath away. “We went to see our reception hall completely decorated before our guests arrived and it was literally a jaw-dropping moment that we will never forget,” says Andrea. “Everything was so gorgeous and magical. Also my mom had surprised us by ordering the gold Chiavari chairs I had been eyeing forever but had talked myself out of because of the cost. It was such a great surprise and made an already beautiful hall that much more grand.”
Andrea and Kolton filled their celebration with unique details including Lego cake toppers, ruffled chair decor, decorative branches hung with lanterns and a “love box,” which was incorporated into the ceremony. “My maid of honour’s husband made us a wooden box lined with burlap in which we put sealed loved letters to each other and a bottle of Golden Wedding whiskey,” Andrea shares. “We sealed the box at our ceremony and it will only be opened if we feel our marriage is in dire straits, at which point we will share a drink and read the letters to remember why we fell in love with each other. Hopefully it will never need to be opened and if that’s the case, we will open it on our 50th wedding anniversary. It was something that we felt was practical and romantic and it was so great to have our friend be a part of it by creating it for us.”
